Prime Label KC, a label manufacturer in Grandview, MO, USA, just outside of Kansas City, has announced it has invested in a Durst RSC E digital press.

Todd McCullough, president of Prime Label KC, says the move to add the new Durst press reflects the company’s commitment to superior technology. “After joining Prime Label KC, it became immediately clear that to enhance the quality of our products and lower our production costs we would need to continue investing in our digital printing capabilities,” he says.

Having invested in toner-based digital in 2018, McCullough knew the advantages of digital. After speaking to several Durst customers and hearing resounding endorsements for the RSC platform, and speaking with Durst experts, McCullough says Durst was the “obvious right choice for our operation.”

The Durst Tau RSC E’s excellence in resolution, speed, and color were all contributing factors that led to the decision. McCullough says, “First and foremost was the print quality offered through the 1200 dpi printheads for CMYK and white, combined with the speed and lower cost of production over toner-based printing. The front-end system is extremely user-friendly and allows us to save time in the prepress aspects of digital printing.”

The RSC platform is upgradeable, so the Prime Label KC can continue to grow with the needs of its business.

Steve Lynn, director of Labels and Packaging – Sales, Durst North America thinks the RSC E is the perfect fit for Prime Label KC. He states, “Todd really knew his current needs, and the path he wanted his company to take, which always makes the conversation that much easier. RSC technology is the future of the industry, and it is always a satisfying moment when customer needs match up exactly with the features you offer.”

For McCullough, the move is more than just an equipment investment. “Soon after meeting the team from Durst, it became clear that they shared the same focus on offering a high-quality product with a commitment to providing the best customer service experience,” adds McCullough.

“Digital has allowed Prime Label to enter into opportunities that would not otherwise been possible with our Flexo presses including shorter runs, multiple copies that change regularly, and variable data,” McCullough concludes. “I have no doubt that the enhancements offered through the Durst RSC E, combined with outstanding customer service, will have a significant impact on our business in the near term and beyond.”
